Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 October 2026 · Applies to Bill Nudge in India
The short version: Bill Nudge keeps the bills you add in your account, stored in India, so your reminders reach you on time and your bills follow you to a new phone. We never ask for bank logins, OTPs or card numbers, we never record your voice, and we never sell your personal data.

1. Who we are

Bill Nudge is a bill reminder and tracking app, operated from India. For the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”), Bill Nudge is the Data Fiduciary: we decide why and how your personal data is processed. You can reach us at privacy@billnudge.co.

3. What we never collect

4. Anonymous insights

Your reports in the app are worked out from your own data, for you.

Separately, we combine data across many users into anonymous totals and averages, for example “the average credit-card bill in India”, “the average insurance premium for people aged 25–34”, or “share of users with an HDFC card”. We use these insights to improve Bill Nudge, and we may share or sell them to other companies, such as banks, insurers and researchers.

Because these insights are anonymous, they are not personal data. You can still ask us not to include your data in them: write to privacy@billnudge.co.

5. Consent

We process your personal data with your consent, which you give when you create an account and when you choose to use a feature such as Money Coach or “Say it”. You can withdraw consent at any time by stopping a feature, turning off notifications, or deleting your account. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, and does not affect processing already done. If you withdraw consent for data a feature needs, that feature stops working.

6. Who we share it with

OpenAI. When you use Money Coach, or ask Bill Nudge to read a pasted or spoken bill, that text (and for Money Coach, a summary of your bills and loans) is sent to OpenAI, L.L.C. in the United States to produce the answer. Under OpenAI's API terms, this data is not used to train its models and is kept by OpenAI for no more than 30 days for abuse monitoring. Your name and email are never sent.

Other service providers. We use a small number of providers to run the app: a cloud database and sign-in service, an email service, a push notification service and a subscription service. Each works only on our instructions and under contract, receives only what it needs (the subscription service, for example, receives an account ID and never your bills), and may not use your data for its own purposes.

Google. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google handles that sign-in. Premium is bought through Google Play, which handles your payment; we never see your card details.

We never sell your personal data. Apart from the providers above and anonymous insights (section 4), we share it with no one, except where Indian law requires it.

7. Transfers outside India

Your account and bills are stored in India. Text sent to OpenAI, your email address for sign-up emails, and your push token are processed outside India, including in the United States. Transfers are made under contracts that protect your data, and only to countries not restricted by the Government of India under the DPDP Act.

8. How long we keep it

DataKept
Account, bills, payments, dues, settingsUntil you delete them or your account
Text sent for reading, Money Coach questions and answersNot stored on our servers. OpenAI keeps it for up to 30 days, then deletes it.
Usage countsUntil your account is deleted

When you delete your account, your data is deleted from our systems immediately. The only copy that can remain is inside encrypted system backups kept to recover the service after an outage. They cannot be read in the app, are never used for anything else, and are overwritten within 7 days. We never restore a deleted account from them.

9. Security

We follow reasonable security practices under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each person's data is locked to their own account at the database level, so one user cannot see another's. Staff access to systems is limited to what is needed to run the service and requires two-factor sign-in.

10. Your rights in India

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

To use any right, email privacy@billnudge.co from your account's email address. On Premium you can also export your bills as a spreadsheet from the Reports tab; on any plan, we will send you a copy on request.

11. Grievance Officer — India

Grievance Officer, Bill Nudge · grievance@billnudge.co

We acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within 30 days.

12. Data breaches

If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you without delay, and inform the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires, explaining what happened, what data was involved, what we are doing, and what you can do.

13. Children

Bill Nudge is for people aged 18 and over. The app asks you to confirm your age, and deletes the account straight away if you say you are under 18. We do not knowingly process children's data. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will delete it.

14. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
